Core to the Saint Brigid’s Sessions is the sound of the space, striving to take advantage of the gorgeous acoustics that this former church offers.
Saint Brigid’s was established to accommodate the growing Irish community in Ottawa’s Lowertown. So, it was only fitting that we record an Irish session, or as it is in Gaelic, a Seisiún.
The musicians: Frank Cassidy (whistle and banjo) can be found playing at a variety of different sessions around town (he also released the CD ‘Tin Air‘); Dennis Alexander (violin and viola) builds violins, violas and cellos; and, Jeff McClintock (harmonium and guitar) and can be found playing in a few different bands in Ottawa.
For this Saint Brigid’s Session, the following Airs and Laments were presented: Kileen’s Fairy Hills; Hugh’s Lament; Roisin Dubh (Black Rose); The Lament for the Death of Archie Beaton; and, St. Pat’s Hall.

Interview
We did the interview after the recording of the songs. On the day of the recording, it just seemed to make the most sense!
